Soul Academy RP

I got in as soon as I wanted to, seeing some of the seats had been filled prior to my arrival. It sat at one of the desks, putting my weapon on the side of the desk. Fortunately, nothing had really happened thus far.

I just hoped it was a sign that the year would be uneventful.

Rei sat down and stared at her desk miserably, not looking up.

Thankfully, it looked like the class was starting to fill up. So I stashed away my drawing and sat up just a bit straighter, waiting eagerly for the class to start. I wondered when the teacher would show up.

I had finished my shower rather quickly, but even then I was still too late for breakfast. So I went to homeroom with an empty stomach.
Seeing that most of the seats were taken, I found any spot that I could. It being somewhere near the back, inbetween two others.

As the teacher walked into my homeroom, students instinctively straightened up and looked attentive.

"Good morning, class," She said, "My name is Ms Williams. Here at the academy, I teach Demonic History, and for the next year, I'll be your homeroom teacher."

She began roll call, making sure all the students were here, most of whom simply answered with "Here."

Demon history, this is one subject that I knew nothing about. At least I wouldn't be bored

Well, demon history was not what I was expecting. But it was something at least, though I was sure I'd fail miserably.

I looked through my pack and found a book named after the class subject, I placed it on my desk and opened it. Swiftly going through the pages looking to see what we would learn. I glanced around the class to see who was in my class, guessing these would be the people I would see the most.

Rei fidgeted with her eyepatch, but didn't look up. She could feel eyes on her.
News spread like wildfire

Frei sat up and listened intently, carefully reaching into her backpack to take out her book and set it on the desk. While she did it, she fidgeted a little and set Frost under her desk.

Class went......well, how else can class go really? Especially when it's as unimportant as homeroom? I listened, I stayed quiet, I waited for the bell to ring so we could go. It was odd in a way though: so many people around, I should have been nervous, shivering a little, and hunched over my desk. Well, okay actually I was doing the last bit. But I didn't seem to care overall about everyone else, short of what the teacher was saying. That would all change though, the moment it was time to get up and move. When it was time to walk among people.

(Note: that was Homeroom, not Demon History, our teacher just teaches Demon History.

As the clock went off to signal the half-hour mark, we were told to stand and directed to the changing rooms near the training field.

I walked, holding Rei's hand trying to console her.
"Looks like you won't be skipping training after all," I said with a smile.

Changing rooms? Training field? I had a bad feeling of what was coming, and grew increasingly worried about how I'd handle this. I've never trained with a sword, so I had nothing except swish swish stab. But I knew that there was more to it than that, more complicated moves that I never knew.

I grabbed my bag and stood up. I headed to the locker room to change.

Rei didn't let Lily go.
"I...I'm...ok..."

My smile dropped as Rei spoke,
"You only say that you're 'okay' when you're not,"
I stopped, turned and placed both of my hands on her shoulders, looking Rei in the face. It probably would've been more effective if we were the same height.

"Rei," I said, "They won't come back, and if they do, I'll send them away again," I continued to stare into her face, waiting for a reply as students passed us, a lot of them glancing back at the scene.

I remembered from the map where the training field was. Walking through the halls and the throngs of people, my shoulders were hunched and my head still hanging low as I gazed a the ground. It was strange in a way, being able t walk while staring at the floor and not walking into anyone. A small skill I had picked up I guess. When I got to the field, there were other people waiting.

Rei nodded.
"Ok..." she nodded. "But...please...dont leave me?"

"I won't," I said to Rei, before turning around to Ashiri.

"Thank you for the offer, Ashiri, it's very kind of you,"

As the students lined up on the training field, they were organised into male and females lines, with two teachers handing out sports uniforms to each of them, and pointing them to their respective changing rooms.

The suit I put on fit snug, felt like another skin. Taking my sticks out of my bag I placed them on my the bench while I put my bag in the locker I chose. Taking my weapons I headed out to the field. I followed my classmates onto a grassy field with markings on them to indicate an arena.

When I got my uniform and was pointed to the changing rooms, that was where I headed. It was a lot like a locker room, and I had m own locker to store my clothes in after I changed. Then, I was back out on the field with everyone else.

I was surprised when I learned weapon training was the very next thing. No way I could've known I guess.
Anyway I got into the new uniform I was given, surprised to learn I had my own locker. Lots of new things here it seems.
I followed the rest of the guys out into the field. I wondered what we will be using. What we'll be doing.
Will it be sparring with other students? Using our weapons or some sort of training weapon?

would we actually spar with others cause that seems a waste since we're first years and need to get used to out weapons and train to fight demons not other peeps?

I changed into the sports uniform quickly, before going outside with the rest of the first years.

"Now," said the one of the teachers, "I want everybody with a melee weapon here," -he gestured to his left- "and everyone with a ranged weapon here," -he gestured to his right-.

I stood where I must.

Moving with the rest of the melee people, I stood......somewhat apart. Kinda at the edge of the group really. Which was, come to think of it, a bad idea if I wanted to avoid bullies. If the group of students was a herd, then I was that one animal that would be easy pickings for a predator, aka a bully. I should have gotten back with the group but honestly? I was still just a little nervous around them.

Anyway, I waited for new instructions from the teacher, while I shifted in place, kicking the grass and looking down.

Rei changed, lined up, then moved over to the melee area, and finally was able to hug Lily from behind, hiding her face in Lily's hair. She shook a bit.
She was...very much upset from earlier.

The teacher helped herd people around, grabbing a few jokers and dragging them to appropriate side. He noticed Rei and Lily, but let it go, moreso making sure everybody was on the correct side before breaking up the moshpits.

I spoke out while everyone was getting into their respective lines.

"Are we fighting one another?"

The teacher looked over to the boy who'd spoken.
"That depends on whether you want to or not. There are training dummies over there, or you can find a partner. I'll point out flaws in your techniques, and stop you from killing each other." With a slight grin, he added "But you won't pass this class unless you challenge your boundaries."

I stood there seeing how people progress.

Dummies? That sounded a lot safer than fighting someone else. So I started moving, inch by inch, towards the training dummies.

Rei didn't let go of Lily.
"Will you train with me?" She asked into your friend's hair.

Frei looked around and decided to go with the dummies. She walked up to the teacher. "Miss, where can I find some practice bolts?" She held Frost out and waited patiently.

The archery teacher looked at the girl holding the crossbow,
"There are arrows and bolts over there-," she gestured towards an area near the archery targets "-in quivers of twelve."


I pushed Rei gently, but firmly, away from myself, and gave her a determined stare as soon as she was far enough away.
"If you want to practice with me," I said, not taking my eyes from hers, "Then you can't hold back, understand?"

Taking out my practice sword, I tried to hit the dummy. It didn't end well. The first time, I missed it by a hairbreadth, and sword went down into the grass. The second swing made contact but sent a jolt up my arm and made my hand ache so much I actually dropped the weapon. Then the third time......well, look I was a little angry and embarrassed, so I swung harder than I meant to. My hand still hurt so I wasn't holding the grip properly, and then the weapon.....flew out of my hands. It spun in the air as it flew a good twenty feet to my left. It didn't hit anyone, thank god, but it drew a chorus of laughs from some of the nearby students.

I watched as a girl stood in front of me, practice rapier in hand. No words were needed at this time. She took a stance in front of me, rapier pointed in my direction. I took my escrimas from my back and got in a stance as well. We stood still as the wing gusted by, it was the sound of a sword hitting the ground hard that got us started. She made the first move, swinging her sword me in a crescent pattern while I took a counter position, readying my left to hit down the rapier while my right swung at her chest.

Frei looked where she was directed. "Thank you, ma'am." She said before heading off, holding Frost on her stomach as she went to get a quiver. The sound of a sword on the ground make her turn her head, but then she dismissed it as nothing. SHe grabbed a quiver and started working on getting Frost loaded.

Rei nodded.
"Ok." She agreed softly.

Blushing furiously and sorely wishing I could vanish on the spot, I walked over to where my sword landed, picked it back up, and went back to my dummy. I certainly felt like one.

Drawing a wooden stick, she gave Lily another hug. "Ready?" She asked as she backed up.

As my right escrima headed toward her chest she thrust her left shoulder back and continued into a 180 degree turn to dodge it.She swung her rapier with horizontal swipe as to get my chest as she turned. Knowing I had two paths ahead of me I took the one that allowed the quickest victory even if it meant letting her get shot in.

I looked Rei in the eyes, taking a deep, calm breath.
"Ready," I said, taking my stance.

Nodding, Rei unsheathed Akatsuki, and set her stance. The War Naginata was more swordlike then a more traditional Naginata, and it fit her better.
She waited, feeling Lily's aura...waiting for that little shift that always showed when someone was about to move.

I hadn't drawn my sword yet, instead, I kept my right hand on the handle, ready to draw it in a single swing.

Rei hadn't moved yet, obviously waiting for me to make the first move so that she could use her ability against me.

"It won't work, Sizuke-san," I said flatly, using her surname rather than her first name to remain serious.

I kept my eyes fixed to hers, watching for any movement or twitch that might give her away.

This is going to end up as a staring contest...
