The Black Team Chronicles

(Note: All events are before Matt Davis's desertion)

Mission One: OPERATION BROADSWORD

=Black team is en route to Covenant forward outpost, with orders to destroy entire facility=

Me: I don't like it boss. This does't look like the usual Covvie activity I'm used to.

Aaron: Leave the speculation to the spooks, Black One. We just go in, blow this base up, and get the hell out of there before shit hits the fan.

Me: Just being a skeptic, sir. A lot of time alone in a hide makes me think too much sometimes. Is Jordan ready with the explosives?

Jordan: (matter of fact) Indeed they are. Two Fenris nuclear warheads ready to turn some Covvie real estate into ruins. I mean this is a bit of overkill, even for me sir.

Me: That says a lot. I think this something a bit bigger than we were told, given the amount of explosive we're taking in. I just have that sniper's feeling that something bad's going to go down, and it won't be good for us at all.

Jack: Sir, thats just ONI being ONI. Let's just do our job and be done with it. Besides, I'm itching to kick some Covenant ass...sir.

Me: (I sigh) Get ready people. Alexi, how long till we reach the LZ?

Alexi: ETA is two minutes, 30 seconds. Best keep an eye out for any hidden triple A. I'd hate to be up a creek without a paddle, sir.

Me: (I nod) Alright. Lead, you heard Alexi. About two minutes to dirt.

Aaron: Copy that One. Lock and load Black. We have some Covenant that have set up shop, and don't have a permit. ONI wants us to show them a little Spartan hospitality.

(Jeremy raises a fist is assent)

Alexi: 90 seconds!

Aaron: (Listening in) Hemets on!

(I pull on my helmet)

It's showtime...

Me: Ordinance load, boss?

Aaron: Heavy, except you One. We need you light, fast and deadly.

Me: Roger that, Lead.

Alexi: 60 seconds!

Aaron: (listening in) Load up, Black!

Alexi: 30 seconds!

Aaron: (To Alexi) Drop the door!

Alexi: Copy that, lead. Opening the hatch now.

(The Pelican's hatch opens)

Alexi: Drop time, sir. I'll get the vehicles ready.

Aaron: Roger, that. Black Team move out. Black One, set up sniping position ASAP. I want cover as we go in.

Me: Setting up now, sir. You order some headshots, boss?

Aaron: Indeed I did, One. Cover us.

Me: Roger that, sir. Good hunting.

Aaron: Likewise, One.

=I set up and watch the base activity=

Me: This is Sierra One to Black Lead, no change in activity pattern.

Aaron: Roger that One, keep me posted.

Me: You got it, boss. One out.

=I dial in the zoom on my scope and spot some interesting activity=

Me: Sierra One to Lead, you have movement. 10 plus footmobiles; one Elite, 7 Grunts and two Jackals. I have crosshairs on the Elite.

Aaron: You have permission to fire.

Me: Roger. =I take out the Elite= Elite is down, the rest are yours, Lead.

Aaron: Copy that One. Continue on overwatch, we're moving into the base.

Me: Roger that, lead. Sierra One has eyes on base, out.
