Rika brought her sidearm up, approaching the casino. Frowning, Rika holstered the pistol and unslung both her shotguns. Taking a breath, Rika ran through her shields and other systems. Good. With a sigh, Rika came through, both shotguns out. The only thing there was a guy now scared out of his mind, cowering away. Shaking her head, she calmy went over and kicked doors down until she found a stairwell. Holding her shotguns up, she kicked the door down, then stood in the doorway...shotgun raised, stocks tucked against her sides.

They sent this over as soon as they were able. They detected a mass in slip-space, larger than anything we've ever seen on record, short of large asteroids that somehow got in slip-space. There are no Covenant warships on record that have this mass, and we tried overlapping silhouettes to see if it was another fleet moving as one, but that didn't work either.

We've been fighting the flood on multiple fronts. They've already taken close to a score of planets. Maybe more. The flood we've been facing seem different than when we fought them with the Sangheili. We haven't been able to understand what is different about these Flood. But what we have discovered is harrowing.
These flood came to a planet on a civilian transport. When the Transport landed almost everyone on the ship had already been infected. Only two people escaped the transport alive. One of them we had had in custody, but disappeared and the other died on another planet. He apparently tried to do something to a girl and was shot. So that leaves one lead, and he's missing. We haven't been able to get to Ground Zero, the flood are the strongest there.
The closest we get to what's now conisdered "Flood Space" the more aggressive and powerful the flood are. The further away, the more normal the flood seem. Normal as in closer to what we've faced before. Our scientists think that the original strain re-asserts dominance over the mutant strain after a certain distance away from the Gravemind. But this is speculation at best. We don't know for certain what causes this. What we do know for certain is that the flood are spreading fast. Every day we hear about a colony going dark and the first thing everyone thinks is that the flood have hit that colony, a lot of people are on edge, and a lot of people fear for earth.
We've assigned a code name to the last living lead: The Flood-man. We don't know what his connection with the flood is, or if there is any connection. But he's the only one who left that transport ship alive and un-infected that still lives today. He's been missing for nearly 6 months now, many have given up hope that he's even alive. But some of us hope that he is.
I've heard that he's an ONI spook. I'm not sure, but I think that it's worth looking into. From what we have on the camera feeds from when we had him in custody, 6 months ago, he doesn't look human. He looks like someone took an Elite and a Human and mashed them together, without care. His form was twisted, maybe he's some new species? but he's working for ONI, so maybe it was some experiment they had that went wrong. He looks like shit, so it probably went terrible wrong. If it didn't, well, I don't know what they were trying to achieve with him.
We weren't able to identify him at the time, and even as I write this they're still trying to piece together what DNA evidence he left behind. From what our scientists hear at the lab say, his DNA is fucked to hell. It's mutating as well, even what they have here, it's incredibly bizarre. They don't think he's still alive. They believe that with the rate of mutation he's going through, his organs will fail and he'll die. But that was more than 3 months ago when they said, we've had sightings of him, or something like him, from time to time. So maybe the scientists are wrong.
In addition to this report, the scientists say that what they're noticing in his DNA is terrifying. I don't know what exactly terrifies them about it, but it has them on edge every time they try to take it apart to figure out who he is.
I've never seen the scientists so afraid to work with something so small.

=Minutes after getting into formation, a slip-space portal opened, massive in diameter, with a single ship emerging from the portal, larger than anything in the Covenant navy. It slowly moved closer to the planet, and the Covenant ships. The weapons of the battlegroup warmed, and discharged plasma torpedoes at the unknown vessel. Bolts of crimson red sped across the void of space, and impacted on the powerful energy shields of the ship. The monster ships' own weapons warmed, bright blue, and lances of plasma were discharged. One ribbon of plasma impacted on a battlecruiser, burning through the shields and slicing it in half. Another shot impacted the prow of a destroyer, and bore a hole straight through the shields and hull, and it began to vent atmosphere, slowly losing power. Other lances of blue-white plasma hit other ships, cutting them apart or simply burning holes in them. The Fleet Master watched in horror as his ships were destroyed, and was preparing to ram his own carrier into the enemy vessel, when a new portal opened behind the ship, and a smaller vessel emerged=

(Jason) =We emerged from slip-space into what could only be called a slaughter. Before us was a monster of a ship, clearly Forerunner, and it was engaged with the remnant of a Covenant battlegroup= Looks like we're late to the party.

(Jason) Then let's make this one hell of a surprise for them. All ships, move to attack, stay mobile. =I felt as the Hyperion jumped forward a little as we accelerated=
Have the frigate group move as a pack, and fly around that ship. Tell them not to stay in one spot, but keep hitting the damn thing. Have the destroyer hammer the ship from the rear.
*Lt. Lake* Orders given. What about us?
(Jason) We're going to give that thing something to shoot at. Move to attack it, directly. Direct power to shields and weapons. =We suddenly shook, as a lance of plasma impacted our forward shields=
*Weapons Officer* Shields down by 40% sir! Firing weapons now. =The Hyperion fired her weapons, lances of plasma impacting on the shields of the ship, while the Gauss rounds were deflected=
(Jason) Dammit, it's not having much eff-- =A bright flash of light on one of the view screens cut me off. One of the frigates had been destroyed by a plasma beam, hitting it right in the reactor=
Shit. Have the frigate pair move to the rear with the destroyer. As for us, I've got an idea. Get us facing the front of that thing.
*Lt. lake* Sir?
(Jason) Trust me Lt. I have a plan. I want our dorsal emergency thrusters ready to fire, on my command. Dorsal and ventral weapons, I want them aimed at a 90 degree angle. =No one said a word, but I knew the orders were being followed. We pulled ahead of the colossal ship, and pulled one hell of a u-turn until we were facing the behemoth in the eye=
Charge that ship. =The Hyperion accelerated forward, and the weapons of the monster ship glowed a brilliant blue light= Fire the emergency thrusters!
=There was a dull bang that reverberated through the ship, as our dorsal emergency thrusters went off, pushing us downward, to the ventral section of the ship, until we were under it, and still moving forward= Open fire with our dorsal weapons, then roll on our axis so our ventral weapons have a shot!
=I was dimly aware of the grins on the bridge staff as they realized the strategy. Even as advanced as our ship was, our weapons still needed to cool between firing. That cool-down time could prove fatal to us, especially this close to the ship. So, we did a barrel roll. Our dorsal weapons fired upwards into the underbelly of the gargantuan ship, and we rolled over once they had reached their cool-down point. It was the same for our ventral weapons, as Gauss rounds and plasma beams tore into the shields of the ship. It was maybe on our third roll, that....=
*Lt. lake* Sir, we broke through their shields! We've carved into their hull!
