Fallout RP Chapter 1

I step back and in one fluid have my gun raised to Kellys helmet, the barrel resting a mere half an inch from here visor.
"Don't you ever say that. I will put down my life for the Wasteland and it's inhabitants. I would give away every piece of technology we have accumulated over our existence for the good of these people. I am nothing like those monsters."

I hear the two men behind me raise their rifles, I take some comfort in knowing that if he pulls the trigger, he'll be right behind me.

"And yet you both hide behind your walls. You're just the same. Just a different name and a different face."

Gideon snarled and stepped forward, gun lowered, standing directly before her, able to see her eyes through her visors.
"We were created to defend the Wasteland. Not rebuild it, defend it. I am the only member of Rivet Cities guard still stationed beyond it's borders, along with Lepelletier and the Caravan Guards. We don't fight to save people, and neither do you. If you happen to stumble upon someone being attacked, you'll intervene, yes, but you wont go out seeking those likelyhoods, because you know the risks."

He panted a little, looking up before looking back at Kelly, snarling.
"I do not wish to agree with them, but they were right. The Enclave said that they needed to survive, to help defend the Wasteland. They neither survived nor defended, but they were right. We, the tools, must survive to defend them, the people. That is why the Citadel is as fortified as it is. That is why we wear armour and carry great guns. Because we need to survive, and ensure that the people that matter need not worry about fighting."
I clear my throat, looking at the two soldiers behind you. "We must defend them."

Meanwhile, James cleared his throat behind the two groups, the sound coming out angry and rough through his helmet's casters. "Well, I was going to go in, but please, finish." He said, a thick Scottish accent prevalent, as well as a tone of sarcastic annoyance.

"Does that excuse betrayal, Gideon? You knew that the Children of Broken Steel weren't going to give up, that we'd die before we let Hillion and the Outcasts win."

"And they've won. And how many of you are dead?" He spoke flatly, sharply, ignoring the man nearby.

He stood, waiting, his revolver in his hand, watching, unsure of whether to go back or wait. He decided to wait, watching the heated argument continue.

"If they'd won, we wouldn't be speaking. I'd have lead my brothers and sisters against Hillion. Separated from his precious Brotherhood and the old ways."

I was resisting the urge to shoot him, fighting to keep my hand from my laser pistol. The newcomer was asking questions, but I was dealing with Gideon first.

=I watch, slack jawed in shock=

Holy shit...

=I put my hand to my pistol grip and feel the temptation to walk into the incident=

Gideon looked at the waster, his eyes taking in the armour, before turning his attention back to Kelly.
"We've had this discussion many times. I'm not the only person who chose to leave the Brotherhood after what happened. I'm not the only one who realizes you wont win."

Lowering his gun, Gideon took a deep breath, sighing. "I don't want to think this, Kelly. But I also don't want to admit that Lyons is dead, and that the fate of our people hangs in the balance."
Gideon looked into Kelly's eyes, a clear look of sorrow in his eyes.
"I'm sorry. But the longer we fight amongst ourselves, the longer our enemies will grow. And I can't allow the people to live without us."

He looked back at the other unallied being there, slowly approaching and holstering his pistol. He then took off his helmet and whispered: "I don't get it... why exactly are two groups from the same faction facing each other?" He then turned to listen some more.

"You're not one of us anymore, Gideon. You lost that right when you abandoned us. Do you know how that feels? Having someone you considered family lose faith in you and leave you? Instead of standing by you? You are nothing anymore."

I continue glaring under my helmet, the two behind me having lowered their weapons.
I was breathing heavily, seething with anger at the man who I'd once called brother.

I glance over my shoulder.

"Knight Captain, you deal with the paper work."

He nods as I walk back down the stairs.

=I go up to the man and sigh=

I don't know much about it, except that it resulted in the near breakup of the Brotherhood.

=I smile=

You're lucky that those three didn't kill you.

Nodding silently, Gideon returned to his spot atop the ramp way. He had already been abused and disowned by so many of his family, but despite all they said, he cared little for it.

"Say what you will, Kelly. Family or not, I will hand my life down for you, and all of you from every corner of the Wastes. Sons and Daughters, not Brothers and Sisters."
Gideon looked down, rubbing his head softly, sighing before looking at the new visitors.

Knight Captain Lucker: "Gideon. What you did was bad to us all, but Kelly took it on a whole personal level. She saw it as her own failure. When she found out so many had so little faith in her, you especially, seeing as you started all of this with her, I think it broke something inside of her."

He turns away, finishing the paperwork before walking down the stairs to join me.

He nodded. "I suppose so." He continued to watch, fiddling with his revolver, and humming "Ain't That a Kick in the Head" by Dean Martin.

Gideon listened to Lucky intently, sighing, not looking back at them. He was right. It hadn't so much been her idea, everyone had thought the same thing, but she had been the one who took it into her own hands to address the issue.

But he had thought about this too much, and had thought of the outcomes of the scenario within the Citadel. It would be rebellion soon, it was near unavoidable.
As good as Kelly was... Gideon knew nothing could save the Brotherhood. If only she'd see his way, and leave them. The Outcasts had done it so long ago, and they had managed to thrive.

"Now, you two." Gideon looked at the two wasters, brow raised. "What business have you with Rivet City?"

The armored one looked up, giving a blank look. "What? Oh. I'm just here as a wanderer." He then looked away.

=I look at Gideon, gesturing with my thumb=

I have a group of out of towners that said they were meeting some one in Rivet City.

=I sigh=

That, and I need to top up on supplies.

Lucker: "Water escort."

He looks over his shoulder at me.

Lucker: "She didn't back down once. We have volunteer patrols out in the Wasteland. I don't know how she does it sometimes."

He looks at Gideon.

Lucker: "You of all people should've stayed."

"Well, as much as I'd like to let you through, trust is hard to come by these days. Could you both please present your weapons." He walked over to the nearby table, gesturing to it with his gun before walking to the intercom.

"Let the bridge out."

He couldn't listen to Lucker anymore. Whether he was going to let these other two over was unimportant, he needed to get back to his room, to calm down.

=I sigh, placing my various weapons on the table, feeling defenseless in an instant=

And that feeling sucks...

=I mutter a choice curse out of annoyance=

He placed his revolver and rifle on the table, gripping his claymore before reluctantly placing it. "May I now go?" He asked, exasperated.

Gideon was a little impressed. Good weapons here, some he'd never even seen before. Strange glowing sword kinda irked him, really.

"Yeah, you're fine to go." Gideon grabbed the two pistols, handing them over to their owners, while covering the other weapons with a sheet. "These will be returned to you when you leave. As for those, you need protection, even in these places."

Gideon stood aside, to let the wasters onto the bridge.

=I holster my pistol, the rest of my party seeing that I was done. I fixed them with my 'Wait here or don't get what you want' gesture=

That should make sure they stay put...

=I head on through the gate=

He nodded, pulling the hammer of his pistol back with a click before entering the ship-city, his boots colliding with the floor with resounding clangs.

Gideon sighed, standing near the table as the Danvers made her way across the bridging platform, straight past the two new visitors, eyeing them menacingly before reaching the other side.
"Well?" Gideon shrugged, smiling. "They're fine, hardly a bad bone between them if you ask me. Just here to visit, probably dealing with some personal matters. You know just as well that's pretty much the only reason people come here anymore." She nods, and takes up the spot Gideon had been standing.

With one final look down to Kelly, Gideon made his way over the bridge, back to his home.

We had the water caravan, and we were on our way to distribute water across the Wasteland.

Gideon could rot on that ship for all I cared, he'd left us behind. Everything he'd said he stood for, everything he had stood for.

The armored man walked into the small market in the ship, looking around before walking down and purchasing 3 AC magazines and 90 5mm rounds.

Gideon made his way into the interior entrance of Rivet City, walking up a few steps as he made his way to the Weatherly Hotel, removing his glasses and rubbing his eyes sorely.
"What a day to have that happen."

Muuttering under his breath, he walked through the hallways past a somewhat disgruntled Flak and into the Weatherly Hotel, to which he was greeted by a warm and robotic "Hello, master Gideon!"
Gideon handed the robot his glasses and bandana, smiling. "Hello, Buckingham. How've you been today?" The robot seemed to shake a little, rising up as if pleased by the question. "I have been absolutely splendid. Miss Weatherly is out with Master Wilks getting some provincials." Gideon nodded, and headed into his room, Veras room, and began to quickly take off his suit, before pulling out a small lunchbox from under the bed.

"Fuck... why..." Is all he could stammer as he opened the metal box, looking at the many drugs stored. Grabbing the glass bottle of Buffout and three needles of Med-X, he began to inject each slowly, taking a small amount of pills after each injection, before eventually falling back on the bed, panting.

=I arrive in the market, knowing I needed to get supplies=

Damn being a good Samaritan this day in age...

=I get my two weeks supply of food, and then get my topping up of ammunition. Having been in this situation before, it was as expensive as it has been before=

The price of being prepared...

=I walk away happy, whistling a tune as I walked out=

Well. It was boring all right. But it was helping. Someone had been stopping these things, raiders most likely.

Initiate Ryan: Paladin Williams?

"Initiate?"

Ryan: Who was that?

"It doesn't matter."

Lucker: Contacts, on the hill.

We stop, watching them, Lucker and I raising Laser rifles, Ryan his assault rifle.
"They don't look like any raiders from around here."

It was true, they were dressed in patchwork armour, made up of pre-war sports gear.
Ryan: Think they were the ones who've been taking out the caravans?

"Maybe, initiate."

They can see the caravan and they charge. Around 8 of them, surprising us with their lack of fear. We open fire, cutting them down easily.
Ryan: They went down like Mole Rats!

He fires a short burst into a corpse.

"Stop wasting ammo initiate!"


Ryan: S-sorry, Paladin Williams.

"Let's keep moving, we-"

I'm cut off by a familiar noise, a Missile Launcher firing. It hits the caravan, and I black out.

I walked up to the Weatherly, getting a room there using Denarius, claiming that it's worth a lot more than it is. I then walked up the stairs, seeing the nice guard lying on the couch. I think nothing of it, until I see 3 empty Med-X needles, a small pool of wet blood underneath each, as well as an open bottle of Buffout. I walk in, poking and prodding him, trying to get him out of his drug-induced stupor. But I give up, knowing the state all too well. I then walkout, trying to be casual as I whistle Fly Me to the Moon by Frank Sinatra, and dozing off in my own quarters.

I halt Rapture squad as we come over the peak of a hill. Below lies the remains of Caravan and some Legion corpses.

"Scout the area, and keep a look out."

We slowly make our way down, poking the dead to see if any are alive. I spot two brotherhood knights laying among the wreckage, unmoving. I walk up slowly and crouch next to one.

"Didn't know the Brotherhood was moving Caravans now..."

I thump the helmet of the dead soldier.

I could hear my heartbeat. My breathing. It was shallow. And my ribs fucking hurt. There were people here.

I groan, it felt like you'd expect after being hit with a missile.

My eyes widen.

"Well shit, this ones alive."

Afterburn walks over and starts up his incinerator.

(T): "want me to finish him off?"

I shake my head.

"Negative."

More words. I think I'd gone deaf.

Where's Lucker and Ryan?

It was hard to breathe, fucking explosions.

I awoke, pushed awake by one of the Rivet City citizens.

"Please, you've got to help!" she pleas. Then it clicks.

She thinks I'm Brotherhood.

I stand. "I'm not-"

She starts pounding on my chestplate. "Yes, you are, now go!"

I agreed.

Stupid, stupid me.

I grabbed my rifle and sprinted out, running towards the smoke, and seeing something I didn't expect, something out of my past.

"Well, shit. If it isn't the good old Brotherhood of Steel." I said sarcastically, chuckling and lowering my rifle. "What are you doing here, amongst the carnage?" I clarified.

This should be fun after all.

I lift him up and pull his helmet off, to discover its a female.

"Takr it easy and breath."

Gideon felt his blood begin to speed up, his muscles and body adjusting to the Buffout rather than the Med-X, and suddenly he was wide awake, his body shaking as he bolted out the door, donning his armour again.
Stepping out the door, one of his fellow Guards grabbed him by the shoulder, shocked. "Gid, where are you off to? You've done your shift for tod-"
Gideon interrupted, smiling. "I just needa go for a walk. Just a walk." The Guard nodded wearily, and let go, as Gideon moved off briskly again.

Fuck fuck fuck, I needa kill something... I needa kill something... He'd always hated it, but mixing Psycho with Med-X in the needles was one of his best ideas, and mixing that with Buffout was just... Amazing.
A strange smoke cloud was slowly rising nearby, before fading off into nothingness.

"Too far. Not worth it. Metro."

I guess it's just the five of us left, waiting on some guy to come back. Which probably won't happen.
"What're we doing here? Nothing. Let's just get."

I groaned, deafness wasn't fun, the ringing in my ears had... subsided a little, and I was aware my helmet was off, and I was being told to breathe.

Not planning on stopping...

I continued to watch the BoS, not sure whether to fear them or respect them. I didn't like them too much, but they also fought pretty hard.. I then sat down, listening and watching as I always have, quietly singing Come Fly with Me.

"Come fly with me, let's fly, let's fly- Pack up let's fly awayyyyyyy!" I came into the big finish, then realized I had been singing at full volume.

Shit.

I hoist her up, supporting her on my shoulders.

"Someone grab the other one, we need to move before more trouble shows up.."

I was being moved, and it fucking hurt. But, I wasn't going anywhere without help, so I didn't protest. Not that I could.

I walked down the hill, and waved. "Where are we headed, boss?" I asked, revolver in my other hand. I was humming some songs from The Ink Spots. I assumed the BoS wouldn't be hostiled. I hoped.

We carry the two away from the wreckage and set them down behind some rubble for cover. I inject a stimpack into the female, trying to revive her.

"See if you can get the other to wake up."

I began to slowly come back to my sense. Where... Where...

I looked around, and sighed after a moment. A large amount of Mole Rats and Radroches lay around me and across the metro, all dead. I looked at my gun, and swore loudly.
"I used the entire fucking mag again. Son of a..." I turned around, walking out to the harsh light of the Wastelands.
For a brief moment, I smelt smoke. But I doubted it meant anything. I sat at the Metro for a while, rubbing my eyes.

I groan, trying to open my eyes. I can't.

(Lucker)

He runs, half limping back towards Rivet City, his armour scorched from the missile. Whoever had attacked him and killed the others, he needed help to kill. The Citadel was too far, so the only option was Rivet City. And that meant Gideon.

"Gideon?!"

Goodrow couches down and opens the woman's eye.

(G): "She awake.."
