"I guess it's just my friend's opinion of them then..." She said, trailing off slightly, "It must feel good, to be be an angel, I mean. Everyone looks at them like heroes,"

Rei handed it over. "I'm guessing...I can't take pictures?"

"Heh...I guess. Personally......I can't say it feels good, being an angel." The memory of my soul's appearance, the circumstance behind it, made me clench my teeth a bit. But it wasn't that bad actually.

"That's because you're not an angel yet," She said, cheerfully, "Maybe once you've saved people's lives from a demon, you'll change your mind," She smiled once she'd finished talking, "Just don't get killed, I've heard that demons aren't the only thing that kill angels,"

"If I like it," I said, "Then I'll let you buy it for me. But if you try to take a picture, I won't ever put it on again,"

Flashing back to the gangster he met with earlier, and the threats, he couldn't help but chuckle. "No....no they certainly aren't." Looking at the pretty girl, he realized there was an impoliteness between them. He extended his hand to her. "By the way, hi. My name's Jason Thorne."

Rei squealed. "Yay! It's a deal!"

I let Rei hug me, and once she'd finished, I picked up the swimsuit I was talking about. A sky-blue one. 
"Wait here then," I said, walking off to the changing rooms.

"Izumi Shizuka," She said, taking his hand and shaking it, "Are you from here?" She asked as she let go, "I'm from Koga,"

Izumi.....it was a nice name. "Yeah, I'm from here; Pendragon is my hometown. What's Koga like?" I felt myself getting.....comfortable around this girl. Which was odd since I was normally skittish around girls.

Rei followed happily.
"Thank you!"

I walked into the changing room, but at the door, I turned and blocked Rei's entrance,
"You're not coming in,"

The girl shrugged,
"It's too plain, boring, spread out, peaceful, even in the capital. I love Koga, but sometimes I have to go somewhere that isn't so calm. Like here, I like the crowds,"

Rei giggled. "I'm allowed to try."

Smiling a little, I leaned back on the bench. "Yeah.....it's active here, alive. That and it's kinda easy to slip in and out of a crowd, away from prying eyes."

"I just enjoy the chaos, it's refreshing," She sighed, "Life without a little chaos is barely worth living,"

I glared at Rei, "You can try, but if you do, you won't get me into one of these again,"

Rei backed up. "Yes ma'am."

"Until the chaos bites you in the ass," I pointed out. Now, given what I mentioned earlier about my vivid imagination and how hard it was to control it......let's just say a few images came to mind when I talked about something biting her in the ass. Shaking my head a bit, I leaned forward, elbows on my knees and hands clasped before me. "I don't mind life being active and hectic......but lately I can't say that that kind of life has been acting in my favor."

I closed the door, and locked it, putting the swimsuit on one of the hangers. Sighing, I changed into and looked at myself in the mirror, before I opened the door to let Rei see.

"You can't have fun without a little risk, it wouldn't be fun if it was safe," Izumi said, "And it's not like it doesn't all blow over eventually,"

Rei was a respectable distance away, then stepped forward when it was open. She blushed and smiled.
"You look so cute!" She made to hug Lily, but stopped herself. "Do you like it?"

"Maybe," I said, leaning back again. "But I just wish I wasn't barely standing by the time it all does blow over, you know what I mean? By the end of it all, I feel like I barely have anytime to relax before the next shitstorm blows in.....uh, pardon my language," I quickly added, slightly blushing.

"It's fine," said Izumi, "But yeah, I know how you feel. Sometimes you don't get to relax, but sometimes you get too much time to relax," She smiled, "As long as you keep going, it doesn't matter how close you are to falling,"

I blushed slightly as I looked at the floor, I wasn't used to being embarrassed,
"It's a nice colour," I said, not making eye contact with Rei.

"Balance is always hard.....but personally, I think a hectic life wouldn't do for me. I'm better at sitting and reading." I glanced at her, feeling shy again. My eyes made contact with her legs, and I felt a small blush come up. "It's rarely in me to take the initiative, and really live."

Rei hugged Lily.
"You are so cute when you blush." She said softly. "Don't suppose you wanna pose for me?" She grinned, backing up.

"Sometimes you have to jump. Just stop thinking about everything, forget about what the consequences might be, and just do something," With that, Izumi swung her legs and jumped away from the bench, "And stop checking me out," she added, giggling.

"You're lucky I agreed to try it on, don't push it," I said to Rei, still not looking at her, "Should I buy it...?"

"I'll buy it for you." Rei said lightly. "But only if you like it."

I felt my face heat up and more than likely turn to a bright red color. "I wasn't checking you out!" I blurted, though it was a lie. Could you blame me though, I mean a cute girl sits next to me and strikes up a conversation, how could I not check them out?

After much walking, riding, and hiking it, Nick neared now the northern edge of Pendragon. From here he would trek through the wilderness in search of the Demon the first years were hunting. The demon was around here, hiding in Lamorak. The only disadvantage Nick had, was that he didn't know the exact location of the demon lair, like the first years did, he would have to search on his own and figure it out for himself with out the use of a map. Hopefully, he'd find the Demon before the first years found the demon, or he'd find the demon before it found him. Nick realized this hope was foolish, the fight would be deadly regardless of who found who. But they were first years, they did not have the training to fight Demons that he did, what sort of man would he be, if he sat by and let them go to their deaths? Through knowledge comes responsibility. At the same time, he did not know if he could defeat the demon. It might very well be that his actions would be in vain, and he would die.

But yet, Nick was never afraid of death. He was more often then not, drawn to it. His own demise attracted him. Just as his deep personality affected his soul power, his morbid thoughts on his own death affected his decisions. Like choosing to follow a demon alone, into the woods, to protect a bunch of kids from doings the same. Perhaps he was the moth drawn to the flame, and not they?

"Don't worry, I was only joking," said Izumi, sticking her tongue out, "Besides, you're a terrible liar,"

"It's a nicer colour than the the pink one," I said to Rei, finally making eye contact, though my face still felt hot, "And you won't stop unless I buy something,"

"Not true," I said, still blushing. "I've been able to successfully lie to people before." Feeling a bit more confident, I also stood up. "So....I'm here with friends to look around and shop, why are you here?" Also why are you talking to me?

"I came to visit a friend, and you're still lying. You don't need to bring weapons on a shopping trip, and as far as I know, most don't," She smiled again, "Don't worry though, I won't interfere with whatever it is," 

I nodded to Rei, I did like this one, and it wasn't like I wouldn't pay Rei back.

"Well I couldn't exactly leave my soul back in the academy. I never feel.....whole when it's not around," I countered.

Izumi shrugged again,
"It's not any of my business anyway,"

Well I couldn't argue with that. "So....what made a cu--" I cut myself off before I said 'cute girl.' Don't get me wrong, she was, and I'm sure it would have been a nice compliment. But I didn't want to start flirting, mostly because I was terrible at it and I didn't want to give her the wrong idea......even if a part of me wouldn't mind indulging the wrong idea. "Uh, what made you come sit next to a stranger and strike up a conversation?"

"My dad fought in the war, so I've heard a lot about Angels. I figured you were an angel, so I thought I'd come see if anything he said was true,"

"Oh......and how much of what he said is still true?" I asked.

"Some of it seems about right," Izumi answered, smiling, "Some of it may have been him exaggerating though,"

"Ah.....well nice to know I didn't meet expectations" I said without any impoliteness.

"That's not always a bad thing," Izumi said, "You don't become a stereotype,"

"Ha, true," I said, chuckling a bit.

Rei smiled. "Then let's buy it. You can try anything else on - Daddy gave me a good allowance."

"I think this is enough shopping, Jason is probably finished with his errand by now," I closed the door again, and changed back into my clothes, and left the changing room, the swimsuit folded neatly over my arm.
